In June, we send out information to students about which vaccines the Norwegian Institute of Public Health recommends.
Click here to see the Norwegian Institute of Public Health's vaccine advice →
Sometimes the doctor or vaccination office will make different recommendations than the Norwegian Institute of Public Health. The school recommends that you follow the advice you receive from your doctor.
Many vaccines need to be taken in several rounds, so we strongly recommend that those who need vaccines start vaccinating before they arrive at school.

What is a freelance folk high school?
Folk high schools have been called the Nordic region's contribution to world education. The school is based on an educational philosophy developed by the Danish educator and theologian N.F.S. Grundtvig, who believed that enlightenment and education should be for everyone, and that crafts and practical skills were just as valuable as intellectual work. Learning should not primarily consist of memorizing and rehearsing theories, but should be developed through conversation between student and teacher, through experience and commitment, cooperation and lectures where the students' everyday lives were in focus. The purpose of folk high schools was, and still is, to promote public education and public enlightenment.
The first folk high school was established in Denmark in 1844, while the first Norwegian folk high school was Sagatun folk high school , which was established in 1864. Sund folk high school was established in 1868, and is Norway's oldest folk high school still in operation.
Sund folk high school is independent, which also means that we have a humanistic view of people and emphasize democratic values. The human being is at the center and is entitled to respect, regardless of religion, skin color and social or intellectual status.
