More about the course
Professional program
The voice is a personal instrument, which can have many expressions and qualities. Jazz vocal- the course is for those of you who want to learn more about singing technique, and develop your musicality and creative expression as a vocalist.
Individual follow-up
We combine learning in community with individual follow-up. Each student receives individual guidance from skilled jazz vocal teachers, and our goal is for everyone to work on their challenges and experience mastery. Together at the course We work with ear and theory, improvisation and singing together in the form of a vocal ensemble. This is a space for creative collaboration, where you get to practice listening, giving space to each other, and daring to take it on yourself – and sing each other good.
We want to keep the course small and personal with room for 8-12 vocalists, so that each individual gets the follow-up and support they need to develop. During the year we work together towards concerts and performances, and the implementation of tours and/or recordings.
Method
The method we use is based on auditory learning, and we have a strong focus on experiencing and developing, through work with ear, improvisation and singing together. Students also have the opportunity to participate and shape the content of the teaching according to their interests and needs.
Inderøy Jazz forum & Sodd jazz
Inderøy Jazzforum, one of Norway's most exciting jazz clubs, arranges varied concerts almost every week with top international artists. The concert program is adapted to the school year at Sund folk high school , and jazz students are often actively involved in the planning and implementation of these events.
In the spring, Soddjazz is held, a jazz festival where jazz classes participate as organizers and volunteers, gaining valuable experience in contributing to a larger jazz festival.

What former students say
I don't know if I dare say it, but I've learned things I'll never forget that have nothing to do with music. Tolerance towards different people, patience and understanding. I've confirmed who I am and my values. Not only in others, but also in myself.
