Not sure if you can start at Sund?

We at Sund folk high school are well underway with admissions, and many have already accepted a place with us. Every year, there are also some who, for various reasons, cannot accept a school place in February. We have therefore gathered some information for you to make the choice easier.

You are going into the Armed Forces

Many people are waiting to find out if they're going to join the armed forces, or have been called up after applying at folk high school. Fortunately, there are several ways to combine folk high school and the Armed Forces.

If you are joining the Norwegian Armed Forces in January, you can spend half a year at folk high school, either before or after the year of initial service. If you are joining in April, you can take a full year at folk high school, and still have the year approved.

Check if you can both go to folk high school, and be in the Armed Forces, in this case.

You are unsure if you should study

Did you know that your first degree certificate lasts until the year you turn 21? In this article, you can read how many years you can wait to study and still end up in the quota with the lowest points requirement.

And here are 10 reasons why you might want to spend a year at folk high school before you become a student.

While it's a good idea to accept a place at folk high school as early as possible to secure a place on your dream course, it's good to know that we sometimes allocate school places right up until the start of the school year.

You can apply for a place at folk high school throughout the spring and summer. The remaining places are published in a separate overview on June 1, but it is also possible to apply after you have received an answer from Samordna opptak on July 20, and right up until the folk high school starts up at the end of August.

You are unsure if you can afford it

Did you know that folk high school is in many cases cheaper than being a student? You can read the comparison in this case.

The price of a year at folk high school is also more predictable than studying. You know what it will cost in advance, and our prices won't rise even if food, electricity and other things in society become more expensive.

Your invoice from us will be distributed over the months you are a student at the school, so you don't need to have all the money ready in advance.

You can get support from Lånekassen to go to folk high school, which you can read more about here.

The amount you can receive in loans and grants will increase compared to last year, and the figures will be updated on Lånekassen's website in early March.

Difficult to decide?

Are you still unsure whether you can accept a school place with us, or do you need more time before you decide? Get in touch with us and we'll see if we can find a solution!

Sincerely yours at Sund folk high school
